Students Speak Out at Youth Climate Strike

The following text is a transcript of our report, which is embedded above.

Sam Catania here at city hall where the youth climate strike just wrapped up their protest here, in Philadelphia.

“Some of us may not be able to vote, some of us may not be able to drive, but we know what needs to get done”, said a student speaker.

High school activists were met with applause by over 300 students who attended the Philly youth climate strike. I spoke with Sabirah Mahmud, one of the lead organizers of the protest.

Students at the event told me that they were troubled by Washington DC’s recent actions on climate change, and felt that the government was not doing enough to combat the large issue.
